Absence Procedures

When children are unwell they should be kept at home. While we have a dedicated team of first aiders at the school, there are no qualified medical personnel, and facilities for looking after sick children are very limited.

If your child has had a stomach upset or sickness, it is important that you allow a period of at least 48 hours after the sickness has finished, before sending them back to school. Such action will help to prevent the infection spreading unnecessarily to others in the school.

In all cases of your child being sick and unable to come to school, telephoning the office and leaving a message on the answer phone before 8.55am on the day of absence and each subsequent day unless a doctor’s note is provided will mean their absence is accounted for (the office will chase parents who have not phoned in confirming reasons for absence).

Please leave the following information:

  • Your child’s name
  • Reason for absence
  • Your relationship to the child

Registers will be taken as follows throughout the school day:
  • The morning register will be marked by 8.45am. Pupils will receive a late mark if they are not in their classroom by this time. Pupils attending after this time will receive a mark to show that they were on site, but this will count as a late mark
  • The morning register will close at 9:05am. Pupils will receive a mark of absence if they do not attend school before this time
  • The afternoon register will be marked by 1:20pm. Pupils will receive a late mark if they are not in their classroom by this time
  • The afternoon register will close at 1:30pm. Pupils will receive a mark of absence if they are not present

For all planned absences, please complete the form below and return to the office with a minimum of two weeks notice.
