Choughs Class

Welcome to Choughs Class - Miss Ferguson
Welcome to Choughs Class. Thanks for stopping by. If you’d like to come and visit, you can find us in the old school cottage which is opposite you when you come through the school gates. Downstairs is where the Reception children play and learn together and upstairs, you’ll find Years One and Two growing their brains and being brilliant. At the moment, we are a class of ten. Being a small class enables everyone to shine! Our teachers are Miss Ferguson and Mrs King. They set us challenges so we know what to do to get better.

Each term, we have a new topic which ties together our curriculum. This means that what we learn in Art and Science has meaningful links to some of our learning in English and Maths. For example, a recent topic was ‘China’ which enabled us to learn about Yeh-Hsien, a Chinese version of Cinderella. We wrote our own version in English but also practised calligraphy and created cherry blossom pictures in Art. We also try to get out of the classroom as much as we can by spending time in our lovely garden and exploring the local community. Our recent trips have included Goonhilly Earth Station, Penlee Museum and Gallery and Sennen’s RNLI Lifeboat Station. We also have had lots of visitors come to see us, including the police and The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Aren't we lucky!?

On theatrical Thursdays, the wonderful John Brolly comes to teach us Music and Drama; we love his songs and games. We always look forward to our Capoeira lessons with Josh and Spanish with Vicky. Depending on the term, we also get out and about to Penzance Leisure Centre for some swimming. We're very lucky to have such a super outdoor area and we love getting our overalls on, sitting round the fire pit and eating toasted marshmallows- yum!

We’re very lucky that Postman Pat comes to visit us every Monday. He empties our post-box, which is full of our names. Whenever someone is kind or works hard, they ‘pop it in the post’ by writing their name on a slip of paper and popping it into the post-box. Pat can sometimes be very silly and takes out more than one name at a time; what’s he like?!

In Choughs Class, we work really hard as a team to earn all ten of our stars. Getting all ten is awesome! As a group, we decide on a class treat. This can be anything from a trip to the local park to an animal-themed day where we dress up and bring our pets to school.

Being in Choughs Class is lots of fun. We all look after each other and are good friends. We’d love to see you here too if you’d like to visit. You’d be very welcome at our school.
